KNOYDART BREWERY

Remotely crafted beer brewed in a wild place

We built Knoydart Brewery, probably the most remote brewery on mainland Britain, so that we could turn a hobby into a full time job and provide the local communities and visitors to Knoydart with local brew. We craft our beers in part of our home, an old chapel, on a 60 litre pilot HERMS electric brewery and a 5bbl kit with 4 fermenters. The water for our beer comes from the Millburn which stems from the mountains in Glen Guiserein behind the village. It is clear clean mountain water. The grains come from Muntons and hops from  Britain and USA, as well as Germany, Czech Republic and New Zealand.

KNOYDART

Situated on mainland Scotland, between Loch Nevis and Loch Hourn are 85 square miles of wilderness. There is no road access which results in it feeling like an island. Most people and things arrive by boat although some hike in across the mountains and occasionally arrive by helicopter, microlight and paramotor. Knoydart has in the past earned itself the title of The Rough Bounds. Currently the population stands at around 120.
